Public - Private Partnership Makes the Mega-Region Initiative Possible
In March of 2008 San Diego Regional EDC partnered with Imperial Valley EDC under the Mega-Region Initiative to market our two respective regions and Baja California to compete in an increasingly global economy. The U.S. Department of Commerce awarded a $225,000 grant to develop this strategy, the first of its kind awarded by the Federal Government.
Founding sponsors of the Mega-Region Initiative include AT&T, Bank of America, Brawley Inn, County of Imperial, Imperial Irrigation District, Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation, Imperial Valley Joint Chambers of Commerce, San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), San Diego County Water Authority, San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, and San Diego Workforce Partnership.
